The Black Women in Entertainment Brunch

The Black Women in Entertainment Brunch was created in 2015 to bring together women of color from various sectors of the entertainment industry. The inaugural event was so successful that we hosted another in 2016 and 2018. Current and aspiring media executives, creatives, and supporters gather to network, encourage, and inspire one another. Each year the brunch grows in size and scope, bolstering an ever-growing community of black female leaders across the entertainment landscape. Take a look at the video below to get a glimpse into one of the the most influential events in LA.

Event Consultant - Evelyn Worline

Evelyn is an experienced event planner/producer who has worked in many diverse industries. Her experience in event production spans from entertainment and corporate events to your traditional weddings and showers. After spending several years producing events in various styles, cultures, and industries, Evelyn truly knows what drives successful projects from start to finish – and it’s not just mastering an event timeline or project calendar. It’s knowing what’s important to the client, and aligning yourself and your resources to manifest their vision. Evelyn currently serves as CEO and chief creative director of the Champagne’s Finest Event Consulting Firm. She counts it a privilege and pleasure to not just produce events, but to create experiences.

Evelyn has been BWIE's primary supporter – even when it was just a fledgling idea. She's used her inherent talent for event planning in helping to build BWIE's overall vision and structure.

Co-Producer of the 2018 Brunch - Janelle Land

Janelle Land was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, IL. She grew up fascinated with creating stories and it was her longtime dream to work in the television and film industry. As a graduate from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she majored in cinema studies, she got her start working on small independent films around the city of Chicago. Eventually, Hollywood came calling (just as she figured it would since every film told her that was how it’s supposed to happen) and she moved to L.A. to get her big break on the hit daytime talk show “The Tyra Banks Show”.

After her days at “Tyra”, Janelle continued using her talents for finding and telling compelling stories on Emmy nominated and award-winning daytime shows such as “Judge Judy”, “Dr. Phil”, “Oprah’s All-Stars”, “The Jeff Probst Show” and “Kris”. Janelle is currently working on the hit paranormal investigative show, “The Dead Files” on The Travel Channel where she helps families plagued by paranormal entities get resolution to their problems.

As a participant of the 2015 and 2016 BWIE brunches, Janelle was thrilled to help continue this event in 2018. Not only did she help conceptualize and execute the overall vision, she also served as moderator for the Q&A segment of the event.
